3. ADVISING PREPARATION TIPS
1. Print out and review the BAA Animation 4-Year Curriculum Map or BFA Animation 4-Year Curriculum Map.
2. Use the Cmich Degree Progress page to fill out the BAA/BFA Animation Checksheet.
3. For Zoom advising sessions, make sure you are in a quiet place where we can hear and talk freely. Have printed documents with you and be ready to take notes.
4. TRANSFER STUDENT ADVISING
Students who are planning to transfer into an Animation Major should set up an Advising Appointment with Prof. Leeper, or email Prof. Brauner at braun1r@cmich.edu as early as possible to discuss your options. Ideally, this should be done before semester registration begins. Once you have set up an appointment, here are some things you can do ahead of time to make the most of your session:
1. Read over the document Animation Program BFA/BAA FAQ Page so you are aware of your options.2. Pull together any examples you have of previous work. Google Drive or an on-line portfolio page, links to a youtube, etc.. fowarding Pix from your phone can work in a pinch.
- Artwork (traditional or digital)
- Animation (short clips or demo reels
- Photography
- Whatever you've been up too. . . we'd love to see it
3. Bring whatever transfer documentation you have to date. Print them out or email them to your advising professor ahead of time
- Transcript Documents
- Course descriptions, syllabi
- Transfer agreements, etc.
4. Take a look at this BAA/BFA Animation Checksheet. We recommend that you print it out and check off the classes you are planning to transfer in.
5. COLLEGE ADVISOR FOLLOW-UP
Once you have a plan in in place for your animation studies, we highly recommend setting up an appointment with our College Academic Advisors to make sure everything is on track to meet your expected graduation dates.
6. STUDENT TECHNOLOGY RECOMMENDATIONS

All Animation Majors are required to purchase a 1 TB portable hard-drive available here. Courses held in the Animation Lab WI 224 require a Cintiq Pen. If you have an animation course that is not being held in W224 or W221 you will most likely need to purchase a portable tablet.
Some of these items are also available to purchase from the CMU Bookstore.
